Avian Proposals Before the 7th C.I.T.E.S. Meeting

Abstract

When the representatives of the 102 Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora meet in Lausanne, Switzerland October 9 through 20 of this year, they will be asked to consider a total of 12 3 proposals for moving species in the Appendices. Of this total, 59 proposals relate to plants, 23 apply to mammals, 20 to reptiles, 4 to invertebrates and 15 to birds. Of the 15 bird proposals presented, five would move certain birds to Appendix I, five would place certain birds in Appendix II, one species would be deleted from Appendix I and four would be deleted from Appendix II. The proposals are as follows:

At the request of one of the members of the Significant Working Group of CITES, the Swiss Confederation as chair of the Group has proposed the transfer of the Moluccan Cockatoo, Cacatua moluccensis from Appendix II to Appendix I.
