Author Guidelines

The Journal of Universality of Global  Education Issues (JUGEI), a publication hosted by the Center for International Education in the College of Education at Sam Houston State University, focuses on issues and trends surrounding education in global contexts. The Journal of Universality of Global Issues in Education is an academic, interdisciplinary, international, peer-reviewed publication publishing scholarly peer-reviewed articles intended to make significant contributions to research, policy, and practice in the internationalization of education worldwide.

We encourage the submission of manuscripts from researchers and practitioners representing a wide range of academic fields and theoretical perspectives, including international education, comparative education, global studies, linguistics, psychology, sociology, communication, international business, economics, social work, cultural studies, and other related disciplines. We are especially interested in submissions which make generative contributions to the field in research on international education on topics such as:

Submissions that include under-represented theories, new frameworks, discourses, as well as innovative approaches with multiple methodologies are encouraged. The journal publishes quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods empirical research, as well as conceptual and theoretical articles and reviews of research literature including book reviews and commentaries on original research articles published in JUGEI.

The aim of the Journal of Universality of Global Education Issues is to promote the practice of international education. Articles will describe, support, explain, or present research into this area of education issues. The editors reserve the right to reject any articles that are not timely to the journal mission. Also acceptable for submission are posters and other explanations of international education. All submissions must comply with APA 7th edition. Authors must submit a blind article for submission in order to be considered. Those that do not will be returned without review. Please remove any and all identifying information from the submission. Authors submit the title page and other identifying information for publication. Please include contact information on the title page. There is no limit as to length. Reviewers and copyeditors may have suggestions if the piece is too wordy. Remember to include an abstract no longer than 250 words and keywords to help researchers find your article.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, or Microsoft Word document file format.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the American Psychological Association, 7th Edition.

Practitioner Advice

This section includes articles that support the practice of teaching and learning through experiential knowledge and lessons learned.
