The Race for Space and Equality

Jaimee Morris

Abstract

Hidden Figures is truly a film for every person and every generation. The film addresses racism, sexism, and many other struggles through the perspective of a true story and gives the audience a deeper look into the Space Race and three Black women’s fight for equality. This analysis identifies specific aspects of the film that relate to theoretical constructs, such as the Social Role Theory. Similarly, it engages in critical analysis of the social psychological principles seen in the film and how they relate to stereotypes, racism and sexism.
