Film Analysis: Remember the Titans

All forms of media can be powerful influences on how people think of the world. This paper examines the 2000 film Remember the Titans and how the movie interprets the struggle of getting past racist prejudice and discrimination. This paper particularly analyzes how the filmmakers utilize the contact hypothesis to show how two groups, separated by race, overcome their prejudice for one another. This paper also looks at certain strengths and weaknesses of the film’s presentation, and in what ways it could be successful or fall short of effectively presenting the issue of racism. Finally, there is some brief discussion on how the problems in the film relate to the modern world.
