Abstract

Introduction: In this study compared arm-to-leg BIA system and skinfolds in estimating the % body fat in senior professional soccer players. Methods: In the study took part 28 players. Body composition was determined from the 7 skinfold measures using the Brozek et al., prediction equation. BIA measurements were determined using the BC-418 Segmental Body Composition Analyzer. Results: Pearson correlation coefficient between methods was r=0.56 (p<0.01). Percent fat values differed between techniques (p<0.001). BIA overestimated percentage fat by 27.81%. Conclusion: The study demonstrated that the arm-to-leg BIA system not accurately assessed % body fat when compared to skinfolds in soccer players.
