About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Journal of Sport and Human Performance publishes peer-reviewed original research investigations, brief reviews, commentaries, and evidence-based articles related to improving health, fitness and performance in both sport and exercise.

  • The journal aims to publish innovative research on cutting-edge, novel products and ergogenic aides used to enhance performance in athletics, preventative health and fitness, and to improve health and medical care.

Submissions should be related to related to: improving health, fitness, and performance, preventative health and fitness, and/or health and medical care. Categories include:

  • sponsored research
  • peer-reviewed original research investigations
  • pilot studies, summaries
  • brief reviews
  • commentaries
  • evidence-based articles
  • product reviews 

Peer Review Process

Submissions are peer-reviewed. Reviewers will be asked to return reviews within 14 days. After acceptance, publication of submission will occur as soon as possible.

To help with the flow of the peer-review process, with each submission authors are required to identify at least 2 recommended reviewers.  Editor may  choose to use these reviewers or not.

Publication Frequency

Accepted journal items will be published collectively, as part of an issue within a yearly volume.

We publish issues on a quarterly basis. Select items are published and added to the "current" Issue's Table of Contents, if they are ready for publication early. 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

 

Human Performance Consortium

JSHP is published by the Human Performance Consortium. HPC members pay no submission or publication fees with paid yearly membership (sponsored research and fast-track reviews still incur fees).

Journal History

The journal was created in 2011, and publishing started in 2012. A group of dedicated professionals decided the time period to publication, as well as the costs associated with publication, needed to be reformed.
