Abstract

In the hydraulic model test in a wave basin, reflected waves from models of structures and walls of the basin reflect again at the wave maker. The re-reflected waves disturb wave field in the basin and consequently reduce the accuracy of experiments. We developed a non-reflected multi directional wave maker thory. By taking into account both current and past water elevation data in front of the wave paddles, the theory makes the wave makers possible to absorb reflected multi directional waves. Numerical simulations and experiments show that this theory is superior to the conventional theory in its efficiency of the absorption.
