Abstract

Three-dimensional model for storm surges was developed, in which momentum equations first were solved in the vertical direction together with mass conservation and turbulence model, then mass conservation in the horizontally twodimensional coordinates was solved by the finite difference method. Several fundamental tests concerning swing and wind-induced current, were performed to examine the model properties. Finally the hindcasting of the current profile in the Tanabe bay was conducted to test model applicability.
