Abstract

Two Fourier models for the propagation of surface waves are reported, which are theoretically valid for angles of propagation up to ±90° with respect to normal incidence. This is a great improvement in comparison with the present parabolic models. The first model is based on the assumption of straight and parallel depth contours, and the second one is the extension to the case of irregular bathymetry.
