Abstract

This article proposes the Metaheuristic Analysis Activity as a form of critical analysis class exercise to supplement research-based assignments in college writing courses. It argues for using critical analysis to train students toward learning how to write in the disciplines for academic success.

Florence Elizabeth Bacabac, Dixie State University

Florence Elizabeth Bacabac is an associate professor of professional and technical writing emphasis in English at Dixie State University (DSU) in St. George, Utah. Her articles have appeared in the Business and Professional Communication Quarterly, Journal of Business and Technical Communication, and Journal of Literacy and Technology, among others. She received the Utah Campus Compact’s 2014 and 2011 Civically Engaged Scholar Awards for community involvement. Dr. Bacabac also directs the DSU Women’s Resource Center.
