Abstract

This paper describes a classroom game which has been used in the Principles of Marketing course for teaching concepts related to retail markup, its calculation, and profit implications. The game has been played in both computer and non-computer versions. Plans are underway to attempt the relative effectiveness of these two teaching methods. Before playing the game, students are given an extensive lecture on markup. A description of the computer version of the game follows a discussion of learning objectives.
