Author Guidelines

Urban Education Annual Submission Requirements
The Urban Education Annual uses an online submission process. All submissions are to be submitted electronically to Prior to submitting an article, the author must set up an account as an author on the Urban Education Annual page on the Texas Digital Library website, Upon completing the online registration, the author may proceed with their submission.
Submitted articles must adhere to the following guidelines:
• All articles must follow the guidelines of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition (2009).
• Articles should be in Word format, on 8.5 x 11” paper, have 1 inch margins on all sides, and all pages should be numbered.
• Include an abstract of the article consisting of no more than 100 words.
• Identify 3-5 keywords covering the important topics discussed in the article and include them at the end of the abstract.
• Articles should be no longer than 20 pages, not including the reference section. All graphs and tables should be included at the end of the article.
• Article submissions should have a cover page providing the following information:
 Title of the article
 Full name(s) of the author(s)
 University affiliation
 Email and mailing address of the person who will receive all correspondence.
 Bio of each author, not to exceed 150 words.
Submissions made to UEA will be reviewed by the Editorial Board of the Urban Education Annual.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. Abstract included with no more than 100 words.
  2. 3-5 keywords after the abstract.
  3. Article is no longer than 20 pages not including reference section.
  4. Cover page including article title, full name(s) of the author(s), university affiliation, email and mailing address of key contact person.
  5. Bio of each contributing author no longer than 150 words.
