Wurbs as the Inaugural Recipient of the Texas Water Lifetime Achievement Award https://twj-ojs-tdl.tdl.org/twj/announcement/view/85 <p style="font-weight: 400;"><a href="https://twj-ojs-tdl.tdl.org/twj/2024-award">Dr. Ralph A. Wurbs</a>, senior professor in the <a href="https://engineering.tamu.edu/civil/index.html">Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Texas A&amp;M University</a>, has been selected as the inaugural recipient of the <em>Texas Water Journal’s </em>Texas Water Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Wurbs has worked in water management since 1971, when upon graduation from Texas A&amp;M University with a BSCE degree, he joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers civil works program as a civil engineer, planning and designing water resource projects. Since 1980, Wurbs has been a professor at Texas A&amp;M, teaching and conducting research in water resource engineering. He served as associate director for engineering at the Texas Water Resources Institute from 2007 to 2012 and was one of the original Editorial Board Members of the Texas Water Journal.</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">The Texas Water Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes accomplishments that have advanced Texas water management, science, policy, law, engineering, and/or communication, providing examples from which both Texas and other states can learn. Dr. Wurbs is being recognized for developing the <a href="https://wrap.engr.tamu.edu/">Water Rights Analysis Package (WRAP) modeling system</a> with his graduate students under the sponsorship of the <a href="https://twri.tamu.edu/">Texas Water Resources Institute</a>, the <a href="https://www.tceq.texas.gov/">Texas Commission on Environmental Quality</a>, <a href="https://www.twdb.texas.gov/index.asp">Texas Water Development Board</a>, and the <a href="https://www.swf.usace.army.mil/">Fort Worth District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers</a>.
