Abstract

The introduction of new ICTs in education is usually discussed in terms of the many benefits new technologies offer, or of the negative impact they might have on the lives of their users.

Author Biography

David Kurt Herold, HK Polytechnic University

David Kurt Herold taught and researched in China for over 9 years, before joining the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as Lecturer for Sociology. His research is centred around the use of ICTs by humans. In particular, he studies the Chinese Internet, encounters between Chinese and non-Chinese online, the impact of the internet on offline society, and online education.
