Focus and Scope
The Journal of Engineering Student Design Projects is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal devoted to archival papers in all fields of engineering student design projects. The mission of the Journal of Engineering Student Design Projects is to be a scholarly forum that archives, studies, and improves the design activity of students pursuing degrees in engineering and related disciplines. The journal includes all activities related to engineering student design projects including case studies of the design project, case studies of teaching or advising a project, study of the design teams, and any activity related to engineering student design projects. The journal includes activity in all engineering sub-disciplines and closely related disciplines. There are no restrictions on authorship: any combination of undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty and others may form an authorship team.

Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Engineering Student Design Projects are peer-reviewed based on an editorial review to determine topical and thematic suitability and peer review to determine quality.
Editorial Review
The Editor evaluates each manuscript to determine if its topic and content is suitable for consideration by JESDP. Manuscripts that do not meet minimum criteria are returned to the authors immediatly to avoid a lengthy review process that would nonetheless lead to rejection.
Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial review are assigned to an Associate Editor, who selects several referees based on their expertise in the relevant field. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two referees under a double-blind peer review process, where both the referees and the authors are kept anonymous. Referees are asked to evaluate the manuscript based on its archival interest to others engaged in the activity engineering student design projects. To facilitate timely publication, referees are asked to complete their reviews within one month. After collecting the referees' reports, the Associate Editor makes a recommendation on the acceptability of the manuscript to the Editor.
Recommendation
Based on the referees' comments and the Associate Editor's recommendation, the Editor makes a final decision on the acceptability of the manuscript and communicates to the authors the decision, along with referees' reports. The final decision can be "accept as is," "minor revision," "major revision," or "reject." A revised manuscript should be re-submitted within six months of the decision. The revised manuscript will usually be returned to the original referees for evaluation.
Publication Frequency
The Journal of Engineering Student Design Projects will be published biannually as part of an issue.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
