Abstract

An experimental study has been carried out to investigate the concept of extending the core into the berm of a berm breakwater. Five different core configurations were tested. The reshaped profiles were not significantly influenced by the core configuration. The core configuration should be such that the core material is not directly exposed to the waves during the reshaping. The concept of extending the core into the berm will lead to cheaper berm breakwater structures since the core material is cheaper than the armour stones.
