Abstract

A mathematical model for nonlinear wave propagation over a rectangular step is formulated based on the boundary element method. The wa,ve profile computed by this model gives a more realistic wave profile than that of linear wave theory. The calculation of the height of nonlinear waves is studied, and as a results of the study the reflection and transmission coefficients are computed based on the technique which considerd the higher harmonic components in the computation of wave height. The solutions of these coefficients are presented and compared with laboratory experiments.
