Abstract

Since a theoretical approach on rip currents was made by Bowen (1969), our understandings on that system have progressed steadily. It will be considered that the dynamics of current system are governed by the following equations which indicate the balance among the gradients of radiation stress and of mean water level, and the friction force induced by the current velocity.
