Abstract
En 1951, au Symposium sur les ondes de gravity, organist par le National Bureau of Standards, j'ai presents une etude sur les Equations approchees de la houle en profondeur variable [l]. Cette etude etait limitee aux problemes plans (houles cylindriques) mais j'lndiquais que la methode pouvait ttre etendue aux cas tridimenslonnels. Les formules auxquelles on aboutissait alors pour ces cas, justifiaient a titre de premiere approximation, la pratique usuelle de construction et d'interpretation des plans de vagues ; elle introduisait neanmoins un certain nombre de corrections qui pouvaient en gros se grouper en trois categories : - des deformations des houles identlques en substance a celles obtenues pour le cas bi-dimensionnel, - des corrections d'amplitude, - des corrections de longueur d'onde.
