Teaching Writing in a Digital Age: Addressing Issues of Access

Abstract

Specifically addressing access, this article begins by briefly discussing how and why digital spaces are being incorporated into writing classrooms, raising questions about equality, looking at how certain institutions are modifying requirements to accommodates problems of access, and finally examining how “access†reaches beyond ability to use, but also includes multiple levels of support.

Brittany B. Cottrill, Bowling Green State University

Brittany B. Cottrill is a Ph.D. candidate at Bowling Green State University. She has taught writing at both two- and four-year institutions and is currently The Virtual Classroom Section Editor for Computers & Composition Online. Her research focuses on how technology is changing the ways we write, teach writing, and assess writing. She is currently completing her dissertation, a study of one first-year writing program’s eportfolio initiative, and has a forthcoming chapter on blogs in the writing classroom.
