Focus and Scope
The Journal of Texas Women Writers publishes scholarly articles about well-known Texas women writers, such as Katherine Anne Porter, Sandra Cisneros, and Gloria E. AnzaldĂșa, as well as lesser known Texas women writers, such as Dorothy Scarborough, Jane Gilmore Rushing, Naomi Shihab Nye, etc. JoTWW also welcomes submissions about texts by non-Texas women writers that are set in--or in some way related to--Texas. And we similarly encourage submissions about Texas women whose unpublished personal writings (journals, letters, etc.) are of historical and cultural interest.
The Journal of Texas Women Writers seeks to celebrate the wide range of literary achievements made by women in Texas since the 19th century. The journal provides a space where Texas women writers' work can be interpreted in relation to region and can be considered as a distinct, feminist literary tradition.
